Hey WIWN peeps,
I’m loving this site and the sense of community that is building. We have almost 200 active members in the Member’s Area… click on the button on the homepage of WIWN.com that says “Member’s Area” is you haven’t checked it out yet.
Lots more interviews and articles coming soon here on the site. But today I got the final version of a video we shout about my forthcoming album. So I figure I’d share it with you…kind of like an interview with myself.
Hope you enjoy it
It explains more of my heart for worship, and for this particular group of songs.
The video mentions social justice…I love the image at the top of the article… it reminds me that so many people are in chains TODAY.
Do you think worship and social justice are connected? If so, why? And what do you think we as Women of Worship should be doing to lead the charge on that? Comment below and lets start a conversation!!
Love
Vicky

Brilliant. Thanks for posting this Vicky. I loved that video, and this website is fantastic! I am a female worship leader in Florida, and can identify with all of the stories you read in the intro video, and think that this idea of networking through this website, and blogs and twitter is fantastic. I definitely think worship and social justice are connected. James speaks of this in the Bible when he says “faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” Worship is an expression and an outpouring of our faith in and love for Jesus Christ, and if it does not change us and move us to impact the world around us it is just worthless noise. Worship shouldn't just happen in our churches or on a concert stage, it must be acted out in every area of our life, and should move us to impact the world through social justice with the love of Jesus as our motivation. Coupling our worship with works to enforce social justice is not only a powerful conglomeration, it is necessary in order to have a healthy and vibrant Christian life. Keep up the great work Vicky. I am a big fan.

Worship & social justice must go hand in hand! If not, we are just making music..it's not worship. I don't have words that can fit this thought but Amos 5 says it best!!
Amos 5:21-24 MSG
“I can't stand your religious meetings.
I'm fed up with your conferences & conventions.
I want nothing to do with your religious projects,
your pretentious slogans and goals.
I'm sick of your fund-raising schemes,
your public relations and image making.
I've had all I can take of your noisy-ego music.
When was the last time you sang to me?!”
Do you know what I want?
I want justice-oceans of it.
I want fairness-rivers of it.
That's what I want. That's all I want.”
I love this. It is a reminder that as worshippers ALL we do should stem from hearts that long for justice & fairness…because that is what God's heart is all about!
Yes I do because I think we worship God by being a ” social blessing” to people around us and that is totaly an act of Worship
God is just and loves justice so we need to be just and to love justice and fight for it!
In God's justice,
Rebecca
hey, I think the 2 go hand in hand, as a worship leader you need to have a heart after God, and I think its pretty hard to be close to God and not be affected by whats going on around you. my fav worship song is brooke frasers Hossanna, the bridge says break my heart with what breaks yours every thing i am for your kingdoms cause. How can we sing words like that and not then act on what does break Gods heart.
Im a worship leader but i also started a Crisis Pregnancy Centre, and run many groups in the community. My heart is for the lost and to speak out for those that have no voice. Also as a worship leader Im aware that we need to soak in his presence so we are able to go out into the world and be a blessing. thats why when i lead i know its important not to just sound good, but to also make sure that the people can worship in a way that really connects them to God, so they are ready to stand up for injustice, to help those in need etc. Isiaha 58 says it all, a true fast is feeding the poor, clothing the naked, giving shelter to the wonderer.
