Hi Anna, it’s so great to get your input for the Women In Worship Network!

First, tell us a bit about how you became a Christian…

“I was born into a Christian family, a true PK (Pastor’s kid) and was really privileged to get a lot of teaching through a great church and family environment. BUT…. At the age of thirteen, I really wanted to find out if it was all true for ME!

So I set about finding some stuff out for myself, and asking the really hard questions! After a couple of years of questioning and searching I just new that God was real and wanted a relationship with me! And I with him!….. Boom! So I decided to give God first place!”

I know you have a real heart for girls and women…What do you long to see God do in the women of our generation?

“I love it when God switches on lights in the minds of us girls to think bigger! And put down our good to do the great! I’m not talking about simply bigger and better, but bigger in vision and purpose – HIS plans and not ours!

Sometimes the ‘greater’ doesn’t make sense to us. But I love it when I see God at work through obedient women of God. Go girls!!”

Some of the Women In Worship community serve on a worship team with their spouse, or have a spouse who leads worship. You’ve been there for your hubby Martin, throughout his years singing and playing in Delirious. Any advice on how to support a spouse in worship ministry?

“Being a wife to Martin has Been a fun ride!

Highs, lows and the really difficult times, (my book about this journey comes out on 1st feb 2011, and is titled “Meet Mrs Smith”).
As Delirious families we have been really privileged to see alot of places and people. Delerious was something that Mart and me were in together so it wasn’t just “his thing” I knew we were a team! And I loved my role as mother and supportive wife.

We had a lot of fun. Mart wasn’t away longer than 12 days at a time, which felt a long time, but we would have great times when he was here, and I  had some great times with the kids and friends when he wasn’t!
God was in it and I felt his kindness and overwhelming grace”.

Any closing words to encourage the Women In Worship community here?

Women in worship! Wow! How do we do it all?… Not sure we can on our own, but let’s encourage each other to go the extra mile and to do exactly what God had called us to! Don’t do anymore or anything less!

We are all different and we mustn’t put ourselves up against anyone else, we all have our own job to do, let’s not add or take away from it or get distracted.

If you serve, serve with all your heart, if you preach, preach with all that you’ve got, if you’re a mother, look after your babies, if you’re a writer, write stuff that is from deep inside, if you’re a photographer, take photos that inspire.
You get what I’m saying? Let’s be exactly who we are with God as our father and guide”.

Thanks Anna! Great words of wisdom. We’ll be looking out for your book in February, as I’m sure we’ll all want to read it and find out more about your journey. You rock :)
