I have really benefitted from being coached by other people.
Coached in worship leading, in spirituality, in creativity… in so many things.
Many people come up to me on the road, or via email or Facebook and ask if I can spare some time to advise, encourage or train them.
Having tried to answer them all and make it happen for everyone who asked, I realised it just wasn’t realistic for me… so I have come to a decision!
Inspired by my good friend Carlos Whittaker and my “Life Coach” Ken Edwards, I’ve decided to follow their example and start to offer one-to-one coaching.
It will take place on Skype, and each session will last for one hour.
You can have a one-off session, or you can book a series of them.
This is open to anyone who feels like they want to grow and be encouraged as a follower of Jesus.
Possible categories might be:
- You are a worship leader who is just starting out, wanting advice and encouragement
- You are a seasoned worship leader wanting fresh challenge, to be stretched and to keep your passion for ministry alive
- You are a songwriter and want input (we can look at one song per 1hr session)
- You are a woman, in need of another woman’s listening ear about ministry – or just life!
- You are a person who wants to go deeper theologically, and are wanting advice and direction on wider reading and study
- You want to develop your ‘contemplative’ side as a Christian, by learning more about silence, stillness, meditation and the writings of monks, nuns and other Christian contemplatives from ages past (this was my special subject at Oxford, and I love helping people to grow in this area of spirituality!)
If you’d like to book a session for a group – like you and your worship team, that will cost a bit more, but we can chat through the options

Having consulted Carlos, Ken and others about the current rates for consultancy, it seems like most people are asking for $150-175 an hour. I know many of you guys are musicians, students or creatives who (like me) are just trying to pay rent each month! So I’ll kick off with a temporary starting rate of $100 an hour. This will automatically be translated into your currency when you use Paypal. For Brits, it’s about 65 pounds.
